Choose relevant links
Although internal links do not affect your page’s ranking as much as backlinks do, they have the power to boost the authority of your website. New blogs might not have the authority required to boost traffic organically, but if it contains a link to the homepage, it stands a chance for faster indexing and higher ranking. It is therefore important to use optimized keywords and anchor texts. Depending on the article length, strive to use a keyword density of about 5%.
Use a reasonable number of links on a blog
While there is no magic number as far as links within a block of text is concerned, be careful not to prompt your readers to click on links with every sentence. You can even use the same link several times but maintain it at around 4 or 5 times. If the links you use are useful to the reader, they will appreciate their use.
Point links to areas within the site
It is normal to want your readers or website visitors to navigate through your website in a single sitting. This might not be possible but you can fuel their curiosity by linking to deeper pages. The homepage should, however, be treated with care as this is where visitors land when they open the website. Keep the links at a minimum here as well as in other main pages. Visitors probably go through main pages before delving deeper to other content so redirect to this content instead of the main pages.

The end goal for every business person is to make a sale and your website should have a strategy for achieving that. If possible, optimize your call to action by linking to the sales page using big, bold and catchy anchors phrases.
